The PS for Industry, Dr. Juma Mukhwana joined the CS for MITI Hon. Rebecca Miano, for a meeting with all heads of SAGAs under the State Department of Industry. The two asked the SAGAs to incorporate the bottom-up economic transformation agenda into their work plans and to ensure that they accelerate industrialization in the country.
The government is looking to achieve this by improving the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product by 15 percent.
CS Hon. Miano stressed this while hosting leaders from state corporations, agencies, and departments.
Already, the State Department for Industry has set a target of 10 percent manufacturing contribution to the country’s GDP in 2024, up from 7.6 percent last year.
To achieve this, it proposes the establishment of 30 additional county aggregation and industrial parks, stimulating the activation of priority value chains across the country.
“The journey to economic prominence is built on hard work, creativity, and strict ethical practices,” Miano stated.
Dr. Juma Mukhwana outlined the strategic necessities for refining trade policies and enhancing the investment atmosphere in Kenya.
He described the ministry’s role as pivotal in creating a conducive environment for business prosperity and global competitiveness.
CS Hon. Miano emphasized the dual role of economic development and environmental stewardship, reflecting a commitment to sustainable growth.
