Secretary of Administration Flags Off Industrial Mapping Exercise in Nairobi
The Secretary of Administration in the State Department for Industry, Mr. Karanja Njora, officially flagged off the Mapping and Geo-Location of Industries exercise for Nairobi County.
The exercise aims at developing a comprehensive industrial database that will provide detailed insights into the state of industrialization in Kenya. It will capture critical data such as industry size, location, production capacity, employment levels, and the challenges faced by various industries.
This important exercise is being carried out in collaboration with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE).
Data will be collected through a structured questionnaire administered by trained Research Assistants (RAs). Mr. Njora urged the RAs to approach the task with diligence and professionalism and called on industry players to support the initiative by providing accurate information.
"To our industry partners in Nairobi, I call upon you to cooperate fully with our Research Assistants who will be visiting your establishments,” Mr. Njora said.

Speaking at the same event, Project Chair Ms. Hannah Kiarie noted the significance of the day for the industrial sector. “The mapping exercise is the culmination of extensive groundwork, and today marks a major milestone”. Ms. Kiarie expressed confidence that the trained RAs, with support from industry stakeholders, would successfully carry out the assignment. “The data collected today will influence the decisions we make tomorrow,” she added.
In addition, exercise will also record geographical coordinates and fill gaps that will be realized during the exercise. This will help to inform evidence-based policymaking and position Kenya as a competitive industrial leader.
