Industry Forges for Research, Capacity Building and Investment in Cotton, Textile and Apparel Sector

Industrialization Secretary Professor Erastus Gatebe today met with representatives from the Chinese Embassy where they discussed on potential partnerships and collaborations in Kenya's Cotton, Textile, and Apparel sector.
Professor Gatebe noted that key areas that needed to be looked into were in  capacity building, joint research and development initiatives and  investment facilitation through inbound and outbound missions as the country moves towards being a middle -level income earning economy.
The IS further highlighted the Government's efforts in enacting policies that ensure there is ease of doing business in Kenya adding that as a show of its commitment towards this, the Government had embarked on the Operationalization of the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks which is aimed at enhancing development in all counties dependent on their stronghold areas in production and manufacturing of the products they produce.

Discussions were also held on how to identify opportunities for mutual collaboration and growth in the industry sector where the IS assured the representatives from the Chinese Embassy that the Government was on track to endure that collaboration between the two Governments in areas of development would continue noting the good relations that the two countries shared.

Also present were officers from the Staff Department for Industry.
