National Cotton Textile and Apparel Policy
The State Department for Industry is actively engaging stakeholders in developing the National Cotton Textile and Apparel Policy. Currently, a workshop is underway in Machakos with County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) and cotton farmers' cooperatives from 15 Coast and Eastern counties. Discussions focus on the current state of the CTA sector, challenges and opportunities. This consultative, data-driven policy process involves county governments, council of governors, state department of Cooperatives, AFA Fibre Crops Directorate, cooperative societies and farmers. The Industrialization Secretary, Prof. Erastus Gatebe, leads the team, with consultancy support from AfriTrade group, led by Dr. Caroline Saroni.
