The East African Community Assembly and Manufacturing of Products Regulations 2023
During the East African Community meeting of the 47th Sectoral Council on Trade, Investment and Finance (SCTIFI) held from 19th- 25th November, 2025 in Nairobi, the council directed member states (EAC Directives/ SCTIFI 47, Directive 08 &09) to appraise and sensitize key stakeholders in the respective countries on the commencement of the implementation of the East African Community Assembly and Manufacturing of Products Regulations, 2023.
This is to inform the general public, interested parties and key stakeholders on the above regulations, whose commencement takes effect from 1st July, 2026. The regulations cover among others the registration of manufacturers and assemblers, as well as use of raw materials or goods manufactured in the community in the assembly or manufacture of products.
The State Department for Industry is in the process of engaging stakeholders on the implementation of the regulations. Stakeholders are encouraged to acquaint themselves with the content of the regulations.
