Africa Climate Summit side event on Driving Green Growth and Climate Smart Financing for Africa
Dr. Juma Mukhwana, the PS for Industry, was a keynote speaker at the Africa Climate Summit side event on Driving Green Growth and Climate Smart Financing for Africa. He said that Africa is no longer begging but rather offering opportunities for investment.
He highlights the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) to update the participants on the Government's efforts to create an enabling environment for sustainable investment, consumption, and production in the green and blue economies in the face of climate change.
Further to this, there will be a panel discussion on how Kenya and the continent can deliver on climate action in Agri-food Systems. The topics the panelists will discuss include:
- Challenges and opportunities in attracting and catalyzing climate finance and investment in green and blue economies,
- Opportunities for private sector participation for enhanced sustainability, scalability, and long-term impact,
- Strengthening climate-smart strategies as a means of building resilience in agri-food systems and value-addition industries in the green and blue economies and
- Adaptive mechanisms/technologies targeting vulnerable groups such as women, youth, refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) and PWDs in agri-food chains and value addition industries in green and blue economies
